SUPERHEROES artwork identifies with women’s roles and behaviours in context of the 21st Century. The work challenges the expectations placed on contemporary women and the impacts that have on her psyche.
Robb’s collage artworks are a method for her to gather information and consolidate ideas, Robb intertwines colour and satire in a playful and political manner.Employing the familiarity of cartoon iconography and current affairs to make comments on breaking news stories with undertones of feminism and power.
Cex In The City Installation
Robb had a two-man exhibition with artist Lesley Cherry in Creative Exchange Artists Studios. CEX In The City explored ‘all things women’. Robb created a few installations including the Fight’N”Flight installation.
Superheroes ‘Flight or Flight’ was a major installation in the international Scenic World Sculpture Festival that took place in the Blue Mountains in Australia. Robb created a series of wooden painted sculptures of iconic female superheroes to identify social issues that combines modern metropolitan influences with a male dominated society. Robb states ‘The contradictions that are constantly challenging the individuality, create strength yet interdependence as women push their own boundaries and comfort zones transcending into modern-day wonder women. However, in doing so, we may not realise the longer term impacts of trying to be all things to all people’
